Azusa Onishi was born in Kanagawa, Japan. After graduating fromTohoGakuen School of Music in 2008, she moved to Italy, where she graduatedsumma cum laude from the F. Morlacchi Conservatory of Perugia in2011. She then continued her studies at the National Academy of Santa CeciliainRome, earning her degree with the highest honors in 2014. In 2016, shealsoearned a diploma from the Fiesole Music School. In 2025, she graduated with an honorable mention in Baroque violin fromtheB. Maderna Conservatory of Cesena. In 2007, she won the top prize at the 17th Japan Classical MusicCompetition, and in 2010, she secured 1st prize at the Riviera EtruscaCompetition in Italy. Throughout her career, She has studied violin with renowned teachers suchas Yoshiko Nakura, Yuko Kageyama, Paolo Franceschini, CristianoRossi, Sonig Tchakerian, and Marco Fiorini. She has also studied Baroque violinwith Luca Giardini and chamber music with Hamao Fujiwara, Hideki Kitamoto, Francesco Pepicelli, and the Trio di Parma. Currently, she is the concertmaster of the Orchestra da Camera di Perugiaand a member of I Solisti Aquilani. Recently, she has focused on Baroqueviolin and frequently collaborates with the Ensemble Sezione Aurea. Shealsoparticipated in the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music in 2024 and 2025.
